Cache is back in CS2!
The talented FMPONE has finally uploaded one, if not the most sought-after map that Counter-Strike 2 was missing, Cache is finally back!
You can now download Cache on the Steam Workshop! FMPONE was teasing the creation of Cache for quite a while now, but now he finally has finished it and released it for everyone to download on the Steam Workshop.
In this article, we showcase the new Cache, highlight some changes and tweaks that it has received in its third rendition in the Counter-Strike universe!
Downloading the map
You can download the map from the Steam Workshop. Click here to be redirected to FMPONE’s workshop!
It is around 1.8 GB in size.
Here you can also check out FMPONE’s website, which he moddeled after the Counter-Strike Blog updates.
Cache in the competitive map pool?
Cache might not officialy be back in the map pool yet, but being “done” and in the Workshop is a huge step towards that.
A lot of Counter-Strike maps started as fun, passion, or even “workshop projects.” Cache has very good cards to be added to the official map rotation, though, as it was one of Counter-Strike's most beloved maps with a hardcore community.
The “new” Cache!
Cache now has three different versions. Its “original” version, which featured more monotone colors and concrete buildings; its 2019 rework, which made Cache “overgrown” as the plant life took control, similar to the real place Cache is based on, and now the CS2 version as the third official version of FMPONE’s map.
The vibe and setting is still the same as the first two versions: Cache is still based on the Chernobyl powerplant and the famous ghost town of Pripyat.
A lot of things stayed roughly the same, but some spots got quite a big overhaul, and we do not only mean the visual kind!
Let us take a look together at the new Cache and some of its biggest changes.

Middle
Middle looks as stunning as ever!
It keeps its core and look from the old versions, with a small nerf to the Counter-Terrorist side. And, we have to admit, we love the communist statues that FMPONE put there, these look quite aligned with Soviet Brutalism, which gets the map another plus point on atmosphere.
Connector or Z
Some of the bigger changes, compared to the previous version of Cache, which was the 2019 update, is that “Connector”, also called “Z” now got less strong. Counter-Terrorists can not use the connector on middle anymore to peek boost or middle, as the “window” now serves the sole purpose of being for utility.
Here are the examples from the new Cache and the 2019 rework:
Other parts of the map
We can not strip you of the joy of exploring this wonderful map yourself!
Be sure to give it a download and maybe test it out with some friends. Now that the map is out, it will most likely need some feedback on how it plays and balance changes.

Conclusion
