New Partner: FlickFlops
Welcome, FlickFlops!
We are pleased to announce the partnership with Jura “FlickFlops” Greyling, the traveller and surfer that became a CSGO streamer.
We sat down to have a talk about everything CS, surf and life.
It all started with passion for real surf, in the warm blue ocean waters, off the beautiful Hawaiian costs. There, what now is FlickFlops, was forged…
FlickFlops: sounds cool, but why that tag?
“I went traveling in 2018 and stayed in Hawaii for about a year and a half, flip flops were essential to life out there. When I came back and started gaming again my tag was Flipflops, after getting better over time and hitting more and more insane flick shots, someone said “flipflops? More like Flickflops” — and it's been that tag ever since, haha!
I also in general really enjoy Surfing and movement in CSGO. For sure one of the best things to relax with after some games! Would recommend to start if you haven't already, it will for sure improve your overall skill as well.”
The start and passion for streaming CS:GO
FlickFlop started during the pandemic. He was rather bored and when one of his friends started streaming he got intrigued and wanted to give it a shot himself.
The grind has been going ever since, obviously with ups and downs, but the stream journey has been very enjoyable and fun.
One of the best thing about streaming is building a community, he states. FlickFlops love seeing people come back to his stream and interact with him and the other viewers. ”… People are giving me their time and that means more than anyone can imagine!”, he points out.
Forming an inner circle of gaming friends and spending time with them off stream is a regular occurrence. This would not have been possible without the stream.
It is hard for Jura to highlight the most happy streaming moment. He has had plenty of great moments. It's hard to choose just one, but he highlights: “I've been raided by so many big people in our community and that always makes me happy, when they choose to send their community over!”
One thing that however stands out was a long subathon; “it was tough in the moment but for sure one of the best is when I did a subathon that went for just over 30 hours, without sleep!”
A shark, Hasbulla and BBQ!
A main thing that often catches people attention during FlickFlop’ stream, is the Hasbulla cardboard cutout he has in his room. It stands on his bed when he streams. It’s in the eye line of the viewer along with the Blåhaj shark, which is a souvenir, or easter egg, many in the community like and have.
When not streaming, he is usually spending time with his family or friends. He in particular loves to organise BBQs, so that's often a thing that is happening. Traveling to and with friends all over, often keeps the calendar packed. Basically, FlickFlops enjoy spending time with people, when he’s offline as it is a great way to recharge.
A decent Silver 2 CS:GO player that loves skins…
For content purposes FlickFlops stays around the Silver 2 rank in matchmaking.
However, he also plays seriously on Faceit where his Elo is howering around the 2.700 mark.
As many of GamerPay’s other partners, Jura also loves CS:GO skins.
When asked what his favorite skin collector is, Zipel is the first guy that pop up.
”He is someone that is always responding and has been engaging with me since I pretty much started streaming. He also makes sure that the community holds itself accountable, often calling out some people. He is really truthful and not afraid to say what he thinks about skins and crafts, which is pretty rare.”
Top 3 CS:GO players of all time - why those?
FlickFlops 3 favorite CSGO players are (in no particular order):
JL - he is engaging on twitter and is also into his skins, a really awesome playmaker on the server as well. Love to watch him play.
Cadian - This is someone that has so much passion for the game, like myself. He looks after his team and takes the losses on the chin and strives to do better. He is a really good leader. I loved watching that documentary about him.
Niko - This is someone I purely love to watch play because I feel like i can learn so much from him. He often shows lineups for utility and without trying he is a really good teacher from a visual standpoint.
A bit skeptical towards CS2
When asked what he is looking forward to the most about CS2, Jura provides a rather interesting answer: If I'm being honest I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to CS2, I'm not quite sure why but I think it's mostly because I love CSGO so much, I will miss it for sure.
Some things I'm looking forward to though are the new nade mechanics and how that will play out. Additionally, I look forward to seeing new players come to the game and to see how the pro scene handles it.
A tweet worth highlighting
FlickFlops has a flair for comparing insane skin crafts with random expensive stuff. The best ever performing comparrison tweet he did was a AK-47 Wild Lotus 4x Reason holo compared to an orange Mclaren car. He posted it the day after the AK sold because of the big news on the timeline. The tweet got 19.000 likes with 1.6M impressions!
3 quick questions
What is your favorite none-FPS game - why?
Minecraft, simply because I've never really played any other games. In Minecraft you can relax and build some cool things with your friends.
Cat or Dog?
Cats for sure, I love animals in general but if i had to choose it would be a cat.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I was once banned from traveling to the US for a year. Will leave it at that 🙂
FlickFlops expectations to the GamerPay partnership?
Jura hope to help some people get what they want in a safe manner, that being selling or buying Counter-Strike skins.
He points out: There are so many ways people can get scammed these days so this is a step to help the people not only in my community but the new people that come from the CS2 hype and that come into my stream!
We indeed look forward to create different content together and along the way help people trading skins safely!
As a closer; anything clever, nice or fun you want to tell us and your fans?
I started out on a Laptop on my bed, fast forward a couple years and I'm fortunate to have this new partnership with GamerPay.
So many of my friends and in the community also do content creation and I see them all as an inspiration. They are so consistent with pushing content and thats something I look up to them with.
I'm very thankful for those who support me everyday and simply giving a like or showing up to the streams. I notice those who show up and who go beyond to show support. It means alot!
