AWP PAW Pattern Guide
The AWP | PAW is a Restricted (purple) skin from the Horizon Collection and was added on 3rd August 2018.
It’s artwork consists of many different cats and dogs drawn in comic style.
The pugs have different colours and facial expressions. While the cats are, with one exception, based on shorthair cats. Overall, the artwork is colourful and playful and its many different details make it a real eye-catcher.
The skin is available in ST, but even here the price does not usually rise above €20 (even with Top Pattern). The skin is therefore quite affordable!
GamerPay has looked through all 1000 patterns for you and picked out the best ones!
In this article, we want to show the different patterns of the AWP PAW and hope that there is something for everyone!
Artwork placement
Let's start with how the artwork is placed on the skin to create the different patterns. The PAW has an X and Y offset, which means that the UV map of the AWP is shifted along the X and Y.
A UV map is a two-dimensional representation of a 3D model that projects the texture coordinates (U and V) onto the surface of the model. It makes it possible to place textures precisely on a 3D object by assigning a position on the 2D texture to each point on the 3D surface. The 3D model is "unwrap" and flattened so that the texture can be correctly mapped onto the model.
Golden Cat Pattern
When it comes to the different patterns, we start directly with the "top" pattern, which the golden cat characterises. It is very reminiscent of the Maneki-Neko (招き猫, lit. 'beckoning cat') from Japan, which is said to bring its owner good luck. It is characterised by its paw-raised gesture.
This article will only deal with the front of the AWP PAW.
Two Golden Cats Pattern
The first pattern we would like to introduce to you is the max. golden cat pattern.
The #839 has the highest percentage of the Maneki-Neko (front).
The golden cat in the center of the gun is quite recognisable, unfortunately, you can hardly see the second part of the cat, as ingame the hand is above it when inspecting.
There are some patterns on which the lucky cat can be seen twice.
Below you can see four examples of "Two Golden Cats" patterns:
1. #480; 2. #107; 3. #899; 4. #970
Here is a list of all patterns that contain this, sorted by visible percentage of the golden cat, with the highest percentages at the beginning and the lowest at the end.
839, 321, 629, 634, 999, 96, 138, 480, 741, 531, 248, 211, 964, 617, 19, 883, 810, 356, 41, 538, 818, 143, 439, 757, 759, 56, 65, 170, 214, 569, 539, 94, 877, 929, 981, 496, 149, 747, 825, 895, 302, 641, 201, 255, 706, 66, 107,219, 670,988, 239, 487, 708, 374, 501, 503, 707, 889, 268, 653, 920, 951, 638, 725, 668, 701, 549, 792, 873, 352, 490, 887, 12, 346, 654, 24, 64, 562, 86, 425, 555, 781, 806, 389, 525, 245, 284, 993, 434, 623, 751, 833, 371, 449, 13, 144, 252, 1, 121, 439, 0, 142, 422, 474, 631. 8, 119, 188, 511, 595, 712, 367, 379, 470, 512,639, 899, 199, 349, 585, 777, 739, 391, 761, 351, 640, 748, 378, 645, 33, 397, 597, 845, 404, 265, 383, 529, 583, 780, 948, 100, 147, 258, 160, 166, 332, 676, 178, 264, 452, 970
Full Golden Cat
The following patterns are characterised by the fact that the golden cat is completely visible on the front of the weapon. The patterns have been divided into front and back, which does not refer to the play side.
Front position pattern: 138, 480, 741, 19, 675, 581, 177, 35, 41, 674, 493, 759, 565, 895, 920

Personally, I'm a big fan of pattern #480. The golden cat is both well-positioned and complete, but the special thing about it is that the cat is placed in such a way that it looks like it has one open and one blinking eye.

Back positions pattern: 813, 851, 58, 783, 799, 860, 903, 109, 444, 542, 694, 800, 829, 837, 89, 127, 194, 230, 858, 21, 23, 140, 662, 128, 197, 198, 263, 362, 508, 550, 584, 795, 275, 563, 610,
Golden Grenade Pattern
The Golden Grenade is also quite popular with the PAW Pattern. Together with the cat mentioned above, they are the only two golden motifs on the artwork and are therefore particularly popular.
Double golden
“Double golden” refers to the patterns that have both the golden cat and the golden grenade on the play side. Due to the position of the two motifs on the pattern, it was a hard search to find those seeds on which both are recognisable. I have picked out the top 3 patterns for you that contain both.
Goldenen Granate Front
In the following section I have listed all the patterns on which the Golden Grenade can be seen in the front area of the AWP. The patterns are divided into ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’, which is due to the position of the grenade. In the following I will show you some examples of a good position:

Golden Granate Back
Below is a list of all patterns that have the grenade on the playsite but are not seen when holding the weapon ‘normally’. If you decide in favour of one of these patterns, you can only admire them when inspecting. But first, here are a few examples:

Other motifs
The PAW has a wide range of other motifs that are not golden but can be cute and funny. We'll introduce you to a few others so that you can find your own favourite PAW. The pattern lists here are not exhaustive.
Gas Mask Cat
Another popular pattern is the ‘Gas Mask Cat’. The motif is only a short distance from the Golden Garante, which means they can often be seen together. In the following, I will only list the patterns where the gas mask has a good placement in the front.

Tier 1:, 29, 32, 62, 75, 80, 97, 120, 176, 185, 294, 458, 492, 566, 592, 647, 657, 754, 765 […]

Cute Pug
For those who are more into dogs, there are of course also some nice alternatives here:
Strange Orange Cat
Terrorcat
I find it absolutely incomprehensible why this is not the most popular pattern. A cat with sunglasses and AK-47, rumour has it that it's no coincidence that it's orange.
Screenshot: e.g. 145, 160, 181, 327, 453
Punkcat
Screenshot: e.g. 114, 212, 339, 472
Confused pug
Looks like this pug is having trouble decapitating the bomb.
Screenshot: e.g. 217, 239, 295, 314
Heartcat
“I'm not going to give it a title” Patter
Well, what happens here is pretty normal for animals.
This is just a small selection of other interesting patterns. Incidentally, ‘disguised’ cat is based on the T, while all pugs wear CT things. With one exception:
It's more reminiscent of Getaway Sally | The Professionals, which is a T Agent!
Conclusion
As you can see, the AWP | PAW is a versatile skin that is also affordable. It's actually a must-have for every animal lover!
Find your personal favourite AWP | PAW at GamerPay! Thanks to how versatile this pattern is, everyone can pick their favourite Paw pattern, which makes this skin quite a sight to behold.
