Renting cases

During Counter-Strikes 2 Lifetime we saw two cases being added to the game so far,
the “Kilowatt case” and the “Gallery Case”, both of which could be rented from the start.
This was an indicator that every new Counter-Strike 2 weapon case was, most likely, able to be rented out
for a 7-day period.

Renting any and every weapon case!

With the update from November 2024, which also introduced the Shanghai 2024 Major stickers and Viewepass (read more about that here!), we have also gotten a new option: to rent any and every case that exists in Counter-Strike!

Before this update, you could only rent the weapon cases or containers added during the lifespan of CS2, including the “Kilowatt” and the “Gallery” cases.
But now you have access to all of the CS:GO weapon cases, 41 cases in total!
This gives you the option to rent a lot of old skin and full case collections for a week.

Excluded from this list are:

• Souvenir Cases

• Sticker Capsules

• X-Ray P250 Package

It does not matter how old, new, or rare the cases are. You now can rent out a whole case collection, even if the case is from 2014 or already from Counter-Strike 2’s lifetime!

Prices

The actual price to “rent” out a full case collection (excluding the “Rare special item”, meaning Knives and Gloves), is pretty simple to calculate.

The price is always the “case” itself, and the price of one “key” to open it.
After you use the “rent option”, you will lose the case and its key to gain the items for a 7-day period, where you can use the skins and equip them in your loadout.

Instead of gambling and spending your key and case to chase an item, you can get the whole case flat out for a week, and that for the price of a single opening. This can be good, especially for old cases with expensive items! We just really hope that you then do not unbox some crazy rare item which you can not sell!

Renting out cases

If you want to rent out a case, you simply need the case, the key, and then click “open to Rent”. After which you have to confirm this action with another click, explaining that you understand that this will “delete” the case and the key", and loan you the weapons for a week.
It also explains that StatTrak and Stickers are not available on the skins that you rent.

The float value, wear, and pattern of gun skins can vary significantly from one weapon to another. When you open a case or select from a collection, the version of the skin you receive is entirely random. For those who play less frequently or have a limited budget, this approach can be an ideal solution, offering a chance to acquire unique skins without overspending. Here are some of the patch notes from the Kilowatt Case update:

• Equipped rented weapons will be replaced with the stock version of the weapon when the rental period expires

• Rented weapons cannot be modified (e.g., via stickers or name tags), traded, or sold on the Steam Community Market
